This is a DIY Arduino project that shows how I automated my aquarium water changes for my reef tank. This is an addition to my previous Arduino project “Arduino Aquarium Water Pump Controller for Reef Tank Water Changes DIY”.
Through programming an Arduino I wrote code to control 5 LEDs, a momentary tactile push button, a knob and a water push through a 5V relay. First, I wired the components on a breadboard. Then, I soldered the components to a printed circuit board (PCB). Finally, I moved then entire project to a makeshift electronics hobby enclosure.
HOW IT WORKS:
When the potentiometer/knob is turned, a number of LEDs are turned on. The number of LEDs correspond to the number of buckets of my reef tank water change. When I press the button connected to the Arduino, a relay is switched. That relay turns on a connected pump for predetermined duration. Then, the water pump is turned off.
